PURPOSE: A method for improving the performance of a hydrophobic porous membrane is provided to increase the permeability of the membrane and to overcome the fouling phenomenon of the membrane. CONSTITUTION: A method for improving the performance of a hydrophobic porous membrane includes an absorbing process with respect to the surface of the hydrophobic porous membrane using hydrophilic polymer and salt. The hydrophilic polymer is one or more selected from a group including poly(styrenesulfonic acid), poly(vinylsulfonic acid), poly(vinylamine), and polyacrylamide-co-acrylic acid. The ionic strength of the salt is between 0.01 and 0.1. The salt is selected from a group including LiCl, Mg(NO_3)_26H_2O, NaCl, alkaline metal-based salt, and alkaline earth metal-based salt.
