PURPOSE: A method for identifying whether a card is forged by a portable magnetic stripe card identifying device is provided to identify whether a card is forged or falsified before card payment, thereby preventing illegal use of the forged or falsified card. CONSTITUTION: If information about the first and second tracks in which a stripe of an MS(Magnetic Stripe) card is recorded is sensed through a header, the sensed information is amplified and accessed by a controller(S5). The controller identifies a delimiter code symbol of one digit of the second track data(S6). The controller identifies whether a card is forged by checking the first track data. The controller outputs a control signal for showing whether the card is forged or normal through a display unit after identifying the first and second track data.
