PURPOSE: A dynamic pulse-protocol operating method in a USN based on buffer occupancy is provided to improve the performance of a wireless sensor network by reducing energy consumption and delay. CONSTITUTION: A receiving node calculates packets to be transmitted to each sensor node. The receiving node requests duty cycle change to one sensor node through RTS message. The sensor node checks a duty cycle level. The sensor node transmits the change of the duty cycle to the receiving node. The duty cycle of the sensor node is changed in the receiving node.
