PURPOSE: A composition containing beta-cyclodextrin derivatives of high solubility for preventing and treating obesity is provided to suppress body weight and to remarkably reduce blood glucose. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating obesity contains 2-hydroxypropyl-betacyclodextrin of high solubility with a structure of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition for suppressing appetite contains 2-hydroxypropyl-betacyclodextrin of high solubility with a structure of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient.
