PURPOSE: A method for determining and separating a fault section based on a feeder remote terminal unit in a distribution system is provided to enhance reliability of power supply by accurately determining a fault section. CONSTITUTION: A voltage sensor is installed in each phase of both ends of a switch(10). Three phase voltage signals and three phase current signals pass a surge protector(20) for protecting a circuit from a surge, and are transmitted to a measuring part(30). A DSP(40) reads the three phase voltage signals and the three phase current signals from an A/D converter inside the measuring part, and determines a fault. The DSP monitors a current state, a voltage state, and a current direction from the signals. An EEPROM(50) records a fault current waveform, a voltage waveform, and fault information. A circuit breaker separates a fault section.
