Efficient Frequency Offset Estimation Method and Apparatus in Wireless Communication Environments

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for efficient frequency offset estimation are provided to implement the characteristics robust over a noise and an interference by estimating a frequency through a reference signal having a correlation property. CONSTITUTION: A correlation unit(102) determines the correlation of a received signal, and an IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) unit(103) converts the signal for which the correlation is determined to a time domain signal. A gating unit(104) gates the time domain signal. An FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) unit reconverts the signal into a frequency domain by applying the FFT to the gated signal. An offset estimator(106) estimates the offset based on frequency domain.
