PURPOSE: A query/document topic category transition analyzing system and a method thereof, and a query expansion based information search system and a method thereof are provided to predict a document topic category suitable for a topic category related to an information search keyword to expand a user query, thereby searching a document to which a transition of user's interest is reflected.;CONSTITUTION: A topic category classifier(11) classifies a query topic category for an input query. A fitness decision document collection database(12) stores query/document text information. A topic category transition map database(13) stores a topic category transition map. A virtual document group database per a topic category(14) stores a virtual document group per a topic category.
