FIELD: metallurgy.;SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in directing beams to heated surface of metal through orifices in refractory roofs or walls of melting aggregate and in transfer of laser beams along this surface. A protective tube-tuyere is installed around laser beams and coaxially to them through orifices in refractory roofs or walls. Internal diametre of the tube-tuyere prevents contact of laser beams with the tube tuyere. Distance from the end of the tube-tuyere to heated surface of metal is equal to 2-30 diametres of an internal channel of the tube-tuyere. Optically non-transparent gas is supplied into the internal channel of the tube-tuyere. Pressure of this gas prevents inflow of gas from optically non-transparent atmosphere of the melting aggregate into it. Also, at supply of protective gas through a circular slit in the tube tuyere, there is created a circular protective gas blanket around laser beams on their way from the end of the tube-tuyere to heated surface of metal.;EFFECT: free transmission of laser beams to heated surface of metal.
