FIELD: machine building.;SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises, at least, one ultrasound contact transducer SU for analysis axle hollow pivot AE in selected angular sector of selected sections of wall PA with cross-section profiles that feature known and variable inner and outer radii to get the results of analysis. It comprises also control means to determine, at least first and second selected points on inner and outer surfaces SE and SI, respectively, wall surface depending upon aforesaid profiles and cross-section and probable sizes of operating conditions of said pivot. Said contact transducer is placed at said points to analyse, at least, first and second selected sections of said wall PA in said selected first and second angular sectors oriented in first and second opposite lengthwise or crosswise directions. Aforesaid is made to get analysis data for different angular positions of said pivot AE with respect to pivot proper SU. Device comprises also means of processing to plot maps characteristic of crosswise or lengthwise directions and positions of reflected signal inside said wall PA.;EFFECT: accurate non-destructive testing of hollow pivot.;35 cl, 18 dwg
