FIELD: machine building.;SUBSTANCE: tubular wheel axle AE with wall PA that has sections with know variable inner and outer radii on test bench BC. Al least, one ultrasound probe SU is arranged on outer SE or inner SI surface of said wall PA at first point selected depending upon its profiles and possible blocking of axle AE. Every probe SU is used to analyse first selected section of said wall PA in first selected angular sector directed along first lengthwise or crosswise direction to get analysis data on various angular positions of axis AE relative to probe SU. At least, one probe SU is located again at one second points selected depending on profiles of wall PA and possible blocking of axle AE. Every probe SU is used to analyse second selected section of said wall PA in second selected angular sector directed along first lengthwise or crosswise direction to get other analysis data on various angular positions of axis AE relative to probe SU. Obtained data is used to plot maps characteristic of crosswise or lengthwise directions and positions of reflected signal inside said wall PA.;EFFECT: higher accuracy of control.;37 cl, 18 dwg
