FIELD: construction.;SUBSTANCE: method includes construction of a new reinforced concrete dam with a spillway, premises for hydraulic units, a fish hoist that is reliably blocked with a new cellular earth dam, and also with devices to let vessels through between upper and lower reaches. Construction is carried out in a pit that is protected against surface drains and ground waters and is dug in dry area. Soils taken from the pit are used to strengthen the existing earth dam. A temporary channel is built designed to divert water from the new dam to the existing spillway of the Krasnodar water-engineering system. Transport streams are changed over to the new dam. Further the bed of a permanent drainage canal is built from a new spillway from Krasnodar reservoir to the Kuban river valley downstream the place where the existing dam of the Krasnodar water-engineering system is placed. Afterwards water is drained from the water area between the new dam and the existing dam of the Krasnodar water-engineering system, and the water area is filled with soil.;EFFECT: more efficient prevention of areas flooding without interruption in operation of all existing facilities.;3 cl
