FIELD: personal use articles.;SUBSTANCE: this invention relates to a hair removal device such as a depilation appliance and a method for cosmetic removal of hairs on human body. The invention objective is development of a device of simple design. In accordance with the cosmetic hair removal method cyclically passed pincers-like catching elements catch hairs and at least partially pull them out from the skin by way of a rising motion. The catching element are cyclically drawn apart, moved towards the skin, drawn together and removed from the skin. In contrast to the currently conventional method in accordance whereto hairs having been caught on the depilation cylinder are pulled out by way of a non-recurrent application of pulling force one proposes to pull hairs out not in one stroke but as a result of multiple serial pinching micromotions. First the hair rootage is released and then the corresponding hair is gradually pulled out. In accordance win the invention concept, hairs caught by the catching elements are pulled out from the skin in multiple working strokes in intervals wherebetween the catching elements are drawn apart and, for a repeated catch, moved closer to the skin and drawn together again. The repeated catch is preferably performed so fast that a hair, already pulled out to a short length, can but slightly move backwards due to its viscoelastic rootage and in any case fails to reach its initial position.;EFFECT: designed of a device noted for simple configuration which enables efficient hair removal accompanied by minimum painful sensation due to maximum perpendicularity of the pulling force applied to hairs.
