The system has a brake pedal (40) that is operated for generating a brake pressure in a brake system (22). A control module (26) keeps the brake pressure equal to a holding pressure which is determined based on an inclination angle, when the pressure is reduced in the brake pedal. The control module causes forward propulsion of a vehicle (10) based on requirements of a driver and simultaneously reduces the brake pressure from the holding pressure with the cause of the forward propulsion of the vehicle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for preventing roll back of a vehicle, while starting the vehicle (2) a method for controlling brake pressure of a brake system.
