The vibration absorber (1) comprises a carrier element (3) inserted at a gearshift of a gear shifting device and connected with the gearshift. The carrier element has a guiding element (9) staying in active connection with another guiding element during mounting of the vibration absorber. The latter guiding element extends from a surface of the gearshift in radial direction. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a gear operation device having a damping element, which has an elastomer, where elastomer has fiber-reinforced, plastic, such as polyamide or polyacetal and a metal, particularly aluminum; and (2) a method for arrangement of a vibration absorber.
