The method involves determining background image transformation for discrete images of an image sequence. A background stabilized image sequence with background stabilized images is generated for compensation of distinct motion (8) of a camera (2) i.e. digital camera. Image points related to moved objects are detected. Flow vectors are calculated for the image points. An optical flow is detected for the background stabilized images from the flow vectors, and is detected as assumed value-less flow vectors for image points that are not detected in the background stabilized images. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for video data analysis (2) a computer program comprising instructions to perform a method for video data analysis.
