The system has an imaging lens including an objective lens (F) and a reflector surface (E1) that is arranged between the objective lens and a cover plate (D) along a stereoscopic image beam path. A lighting system includes an illumination lens (S) that is partially taken in housing for supplying an illumination beam path (W). An illuminating mirror is arranged between the objective lens and the cover plate along the illumination beam path. The illuminating mirror and the reflector surface of an imaging system are provided in different planes. An independent claim is also included for a microscopic method.
