The unit has an axial piston internal-combustion engine (A) that includes multiple cylinder piston assemblies arranged on a pitch circle and a rotor assembly (R). The cylinder piston assemblies include a cylinder (GZ) fixed on a housing side. A piston (K) is connected with a rotating eccentric disk (T) of the rotor assembly. An electrical machine (E) i.e. flywheel-starter-generator, is combined with the engine. A drive element e.g. drive shaft, is coupled or separated from the rotor assembly by a switchable coupling (C), where the element is arranged coaxial to a rotational axis.
