The charging circuit is configured according to the operating condition of the circuit for the supply of alternating current (30) in a secondary side (32) of an inverter (14). An interface (36) is configured for connecting an external energy source (10) to the charging circuit. The interface is provided for receiving the alternating current in the secondary side of the inverter. An independent claim is also included for a method for charging an energy storage unit.
