The device has an illumination unit, and a coupling and uncoupling unit for coupling and uncoupling light of the illumination unit and/or light reflected from eyes. Opto-electronic sensor-arrays e.g. charge-coupled devices, record the light reflected from the eyes and comprise connections to an evaluation unit. A beam splitter is provided for distributing the light reflected from the eyes to the sensor-arrays, where the beam splitter has dichroic characteristics. An attenuator is arranged between the beam splitter and the sensor-arrays. An independent claim is also included for a method for recording high-dynamic fundus- and slit images of eyes.
