The method involves indirectly cooling quench water at 10 degree Celsius by adding cold water before decompressing, where temperature of the quench water is about 160 to 250 degree Celsius, and pressure is about 2 to 10 Mega Pascal. The cold water is supplied from decompressing apparatuses (6, 20) to a duct of the quench water, where the decompressing apparatus is formed by valves, diaphragms and chokes. The cold water is directly supplied to a sump (18) of a quench chamber (3). Amount of cold water is controlled according to the temperature of the quench water.
