The plant has a pump (2) loading absorbent material with working medium at pressure, where the absorbent material loaded with working medium is desorbed in a desorber (3) by supplying heat. The desorbed working medium is supplied to a superheater (4) and overheated by supply of heat. The desorbed working medium in a turbine (5) transfers mechanical work of a generator (6) into electricity while the absorbent material regenerated in the desorber is supplied to an absorber (1) for a new cycle. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a steam power plant.
