The breaker (2) has a cylindrical sleeve (4) formed as a connection element, and a bolt (6) formed as another connection element and insertable into the sleeve in a conductive state of the circuit breaker. An intermediate space is formed along a radial lateral surface between the sleeve and the bolt. A separation unit (12) is arranged between the sleeve and the bolt. An intermediate piece (8) is partially arranged in the intermediate space, and projects into a region of a base (8a). The bolt is connected with the intermediate piece in a force-fit manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a circuit breaker.
