The method involves starting an internal combustion engine of an electric hybrid vehicle using an electrical machine, where the electrical machine is operated by electricity of an electrical energy storage. The temperature of a cooling agent of the engine is measured. Fuel is injected into the internal combustion engine and ignited with a predetermined starting speed of the engine, where the predetermined starting speed depends on the temperature and internal resistance of the electrical energy storage and the temperature of the cooling agent.
