The method involves evaporating a working medium e.g. alcoholic working medium, in a heat exchanger (22) by thermal energy of a cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine (20) e.g. petrol engine, of a motor vehicle, and overheating the working medium in another heat exchanger (34) by thermal energy of an auxiliary heating system (14) of the motor vehicle. A phase transition of the working medium is caused by the thermal energy of the auxiliary heating system. An exhaust gas of the auxiliary heating system is used for overheating the medium.
