The arrangement (200) has controllable mechanisms (240, 241) variably positioning sharpening units (230, 231) with respect to a saw blade (110). A workpiece machining device includes a receptacle for positioning a workpiece in a cutting area of the saw blade. The sharpening units are formed as two jaws moving perpendicular to a section plane of the saw blade. The controllable mechanisms include two drive elements i.e. electro motors, and the jaws are driven by the drive elements. The sharpening units include a wedge-shaped contour for sharpening predetermined areas of the saw blade. The sharpening units are formed in wheel, disk or cylindrical shapes, and are made of aluminum oxide, diamond or silicon carbide. An independent claim is also included for a method for sharpening a saw blade in a workpiece machining device.
