The present invention relates to a method for controlling a semiactive damper for the deepening of the vehicles, wherein the damper a separating piston, a proportioning pressure-relief valve and a tension stage, and wherein means for influencing of the damping characteristic as a function of the longitudinal vehicle speed, are provided, wherein on exceeding a predetermined longitudinal velocity of the proportioning pressure-relief valve is opened in order to minimize the damping in the pressure range, while at the same time, the tension stage is activated in such a manner that the damping in the traction region, is lifted, whereby the tension stage to reach a predetermined damping force is closed.
