The method involves reducing sheet thickness (D) of a sheet part (1) to smaller sheet thickness (d) in a joining region (3) by unilateral or bilateral stamping during a hot-forming process. The sheet part is perforated in the joining region for producing pre-holes. The pre-perforated sheet part is clinched with another sheet part for producing a joining point in the joining region. The perforation is performed using laser or by punching or water jet cutting. The latter sheet part exhibits smaller thickness than the former sheet part. An independent claim is also included for a device for producing a structural component from two components, comprising a forming tool.
