The mechanism has a float valve arranged at a lower side of a drainage plate, and a valve closing body e.g. ball, fixed with a valve seat in a valve housing (8) e.g. pipe socket. A drainage hole is opened in the valve housing. The drainage plate is formed for fixing in a floor (1) of a room outside a sewer manhole. The valve closing body is formed by a float of the float valve. The drainage plate is formed for fixing in a housing (2) of the sewer manhole. The valve seat exhibits a distance in a flow direction.
