The system has two sensor groups (G1, G2) of difference functions for detecting vehicle surrounding-information. An electronic controller (2) controls actuator and/or an optical display (3) for a driver based on the vehicle surrounding-information, and has a programming module (4) for alternately activating the sensor groups by the controller based on vehicle speed. The sensor groups have identical ultrasonic sensors (S1-S12) for side space monitoring and rear space monitoring of a lane change assistance system, respectively.
