The rail has an elongated handrail profile (1) supporting an electric lighting unit i.e. LED strip (4), in a longitudinal groove (2) that runs on lower side. Another longitudinal groove (3) is positioned below the former longitudinal groove that receives a fastening unit of the handrail profile. The fastening unit is formed by a clamping device (6) with a supporting element, where the latter longitudinal groove includes a trapezoid-shaped cross section. A receiving element (7) lies on a base of the trapezoid-shaped cross section.
