The device (2) has a laser for insertion of laser energy in joint parts (4). An auxiliary material is arranged between the joint parts for melting the joint parts and provided in a joint zone. A pressing unit presses the joint parts to be joined together during joining process, and includes a pressure element (8) i.e. glass panel, localized in a zone. The pressure element is partially transparent to laser radiation (6), and assigns a feed device a feed of the pressure element relative to the joint parts, where the joint parts are made of thermoplastic material. The pressure element is made of non-transparent material. An independent claim is also included for a method for joining two joint parts.
