The method involves conducting a measurement of diameters at a bar (2) in process flow direction (3) for optimization of the contact pressure of peeling units (S). The determined value of the diameters is provided for the regulation of the contact pressure at individual peeling unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for the execution of a continuous peeling method.
