The mold has a side wall mold surface (2) comprising markings (3) that are arranged within a background surface (4). The background surface is arranged in a contour plane of a side wall mold surface contour, where the markings are formed as recesses in relation to the background surface. The background surface exhibits roughness (5) produced by application of a thermal sprayed coating on the side wall mold surface, where the markings are machined into the coating. The background surface is arranged on the mold surface, where depth of roughness of the background surface is 0.1 mm. An independent claim is also included for a tire comprising a side wall.
