The device (30) has a reflector module (42) with matrix-like reflector elements (42.1-42.3), and a faceplate mask (41) arranged at an optical path between a linear detection and ranging sensor (21) and the module. The reflector elements are provided as retroreflectors or corner reflectors. Optically effective surfaces of the reflector elements are formed with spherical shape. The faceplate mask is divided into controllable elements (41.1-41.3), which are assigned to the reflector elements of the module. A matrix element of the module comprises a light receiver and a light transmitter. An independent claim is also included for a method for calibrating sensors i.e. linear detection and ranging sensors.
