The booster (100) has an electric drive (38) coupled with a pressure piston (22) of a main brake cylinder (23) by a transmission unit, and a brake pedal transferring reinforcing brake pressure to the pressure piston. The transmission unit has a slotted link gear (39) connected with the pressure piston and causing a shift of the pressure piston in the main brake cylinder. The slotted link gear has two oppositely lying slotted link elements (26, 27) that are arranged on a shifting axis of a plunger (16) and interconnected. The slotted link elements are in the shape of hollow cylinder.
