The piston (10) has piston parts movably coupled relative to each other by formation of a chamber, where the chamber is variable in volume and impinged with pressurized medium i.e. pressurized oil. A switchable valve device (20) is arranged at an inner side at a piston skirt (22) and adjusts volume of the pressurized medium in the chamber. The valve device is designed as a shut-off valve, where the pressurized medium is drained from the chamber over a cooling duct. The valve device is switchable between two operating conditions.
