The valve assembly (1) has a main valve (3) for controlling flow of a fluid between a two working connections (HA,HB). The main valve has a valve piston (9) which is guided between an outlet position and a blocking position. A spring unit (23) is provided for pre-stressing the valve piston in the blocking position. The valve piston limits a sealing pressure chamber (21) which is admittable for moving the valve piston in the blocking position.
