The method involves applying electrical energy in form of pulse blocks (4) comprising monopolar individual electrical pulses (5) to a muscle. A tension is produced in the muscle, where the individual pulses differ from each other with respect to pulse strength (7), pulse width (8) and/or pulse frequency in central region and/or in an end region of the pulse blocks. The pulses are modulated so that the applied energy is non constant function with time and causes tension to the muscle with a specific course of movement. An independent claim is also included for a device for stimulation of muscles.
