The system (1) has an infrared-image processing unit (3) connected with an infrared camera (2), which is utilized for detecting images of a geographical area. An evaluation unit (7) is connected with the infrared-image processing unit and a movement predicting unit (6) for position determination of local prevailed thermal areas. The image processing unit is connected with an optical camera (4), where position and direction of the infrared camera and the optical camera are arranged relative to each other in a calibrated manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for finding a local thermal area.
