The method involves evacuating air from a cylindrical case (1), and filling inert gas in the case. A bottom part and/or a cover part is fastened on an opening edge of the case, as the bottom part and/or cover part (7) are gas-tightly fixed at the case by folds and engaged with a flange (5) of a peripheral edge of the case. A front-sided recess (6) is formed in the flange to connect an interior of the case with the bottom part and/or cover part to ensure gas exchange between the interior of the case and environment with the bottom part and/or the cover part resting against the flange. The case is made of plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a cylindrical case.
