The drive has a rotor that is relative-movably supported at a stator, where the rotor and/or the stator comprise an elongated metallic profile element (1). The profile element comprises a set of external walls (4, 5, 6) made of ferromagnetic solid material, where the external walls are limited at a ferromagnetic metal foam core (7). The external walls and the metal foam core extend in a longitudinal direction (8) of the profile element. The external walls and the metal foam core are formed as a single-piece and are made of high permeable, low coercive material i.e. silicon-iron-material. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a profile element that is utilized for a stator and/or rotor of a linear direct drive.
