The strut (10) has a vibration damper (18) with a damper cylinder (20) and a piston rod (22). A twistable bar element (26) is arranged coaxial to the damper in interior of a housing (12). Front side end (28) of the element is rotatably supported around a sliding body (24) by support units such as connecting rod (30), ball groove (38) and balls (40), and opposite front side end (32) of the element is fixedly supported at a housing front side (16) so that a translational relative movement between the element and the body causes a rotation of the element.
