The brake has a locking device locking a brake lever in a selected pivoting position. An adjusting and readjusting unit (16) is formed by a releasable latching device (17) for transmitting adjustment forces of the lever to a drawing unit e.g. traction rope and/or connecting rod. An adjustable stop i.e. pin, is connected at one end with a clamping jaw (22) and at another end with the unlocking device by a rocker element, where the rocker element is slidably guided to an assigned front surface of the pin and pivotably mounted on the unlocking device. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a locking brake for a vehicle.
