The module (14) has a gas generator (20) for blowing an airbag (18), and an airbag cover (22) for covering the airbag and/or the gas generator. A retaining unit (34) is connected with the gas generator for hooking with a vehicle seat (10). The airbag cover exhibits an internal contour (36) pointing to the gas generator such that the gas generator is fixed at a position by the internal contour in assembled condition of the module. A discharge opening is provided for blowing up the airbag, and locked by a friction conclusively connected opening cover. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle seat comprising a backrest connected with an airbag module.
