The device has a holding disk (2) for accommodating a workpiece i.e. propeller blade (1) and comprising clamping devices (5-8) for clamping the workpiece in the holding disk. The holding disk is designed in such a manner that the holding disk partially surrounds the workpiece in a plane perpendicular to a rotational axis of the workpiece. The clamping devices are moved independent of each other around an axis for pressing against the workpiece. Another holding disk (3) is connected with the former holding disk in a rigid manner and provided for accommodating an end of the workpiece. An independent claim is also included for a method for rotating an elongated workpiece.
