The engine has overflow channels (UK) or heat exchange chambers surrounding a whole combustion chamber (B) for forming a unit chamber by empty spaces of double-walled half cylinders (Z) and a valve block (VB). Each channel and heat exchange chamber represent a composite area between the combustion chamber and lower piston spaces. Suction valves are arranged around center of the valve block. The suction valves connect/lock the combustion chamber with the channels or exchange chambers. Outlet valves are arranged in the half cylinders approximately above a piston base in a UT-position. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a two stroke-horizontally opposed piston engine.
