The manually driven welding device for arc welding, comprises a welding torch head (3) having an electrode, a guiding strip (7), which is parallely arranged to a welding seam to be produced, a guide block (9), which is guidable on the guiding strip and is arranged for creating a feed, a holder for holding the welding torch head on the guiding strip, an actuating device (13) for manually producing an oscillating swing motion of the holder and the welding torch head, and a transmission device (15), where the swing motion of the holder is transferable over the transmission device. The manually driven welding device for arc welding, comprises a welding torch head (3) having an electrode, a guiding strip (7), which is parallely arranged to a welding seam to be produced, a guide block (9), which is guidable on the guiding strip and is arranged for creating a feed, a holder for holding the welding torch head on the guiding strip, an actuating device (13) for manually producing an oscillating swing motion of the holder and the welding torch head, and a transmission device (15), where the swing motion of the holder is transferable over the transmission device on the guide block for producing the propulsion of the guide block. The holder is fixed over a hinge on the guide block so that the holder is slewable for producing the swing motion of the welding torch head. The guiding strip has a tooth, in which the guide block interferes in such a way that the feed is definably produced by engaging into the tooth. The guide block has a worm gear for engaging in the tooth. The transmission device has a freewheel, which is connected with the holder in such away that the holder of the oscillating swing motion of the welding torch head transfers in a direction on the transmission device. The transmission device has a swivel lever, which is connected with the holder for transferring the swing motion via a connecting element. The connecting element is a push rod, which is attached on the holder and the swivel lever, which cooperates with the freewheel. The transmission device has a gearwheel, which is connected with the holder over a connecting element. The connecting element is connected with a rack of the gearwheel and the further gearwheel cooperates with the freewheel. The transmission device has a stroke for limiting the transferred swing motion, where each stroke is adjustable. The connecting element is moveably fixed on the holder in such a way that a translation ratio is adjustable to the transferred swing motion. The guiding strip has lateral guide edges, and the guide block has four guide roles, which engage on the guide edges in such a way that the guide block encompasses the guiding strip. The guiding strip has a curvature and the guide block is adaptable on the curvature of the guiding strip in such a way that the welding device is used for an orbital welding process. The holder is detachable with the connecting element by the guide block. The hinge is folded in such a way that the holder is fixed in different direction on the guide block. An independent claim is included for a method for arc welding.
