Manual guided joining techniques like adhesive bonding, screwing and welding are used more and more by the industry. Possible application areas of these manual guided processes are the prototype construction, the use in single or small-batch manufacturing up to applications in crafts enterprises. In such cases only the worker is able to control the movement and the location of the used tool and so the worker influences the quality. This leads into inaccuracies in the joining process, which cause e.g. loss of hardness or even early breakdown. The possibilities of a documentation of the production process are very limited. This gap is closed with a special position and velocity measuring system. Special sensors and micro controllers calculate the velocity and the location of a manual guided joining tool, e.g. welding gun, adhesive bonding applicator or a power screwdriver. The measuring system supports the worker and generates new possibilities for a documentation of the joining process. Position or velocity depending parameters of a joining process, e.g. the welding program, are chosen automatically. Optical and acoustic signs assist the worker to reach exactly the required position of the joining tool.
