The device has a wiper arm (4) driven by a driving force of a drive source i.e. wiper motor, and a wiper blade coupled to a distal portion of the arm at a constant position relative to the arm. The blade moves back and forth between a pair of reversing positions while wiping a windshield of a vehicle body e.g. cowl louver. A wiping range enlarging mechanism (5) drives the arm while moving a basal portion e.g. shaft centre, of the arm, so that a wiping angle of the basal portion of the blade at one of the reversing positions is greater than a wiping angle of a distal portion of the blade.
