The method for connecting two components (11, 12), where each component has a joining surface, comprises connecting two joining surfaces associated to each other by means of a friction welding. The joining surface associated to each other is formed by means of a collar (15, 16) before the friction welding. A constant transition is formed between each collar and an external surface of the associated component. The constant transition is formed with a defined radius. Independent claims are included for (1) a friction welding connection; and (2) a multi-part piston for an internal combustion engine.
